Why Pierre Chang?

As those keen Comic-Con / ARG enthusiasts already know, the artist formerly known as Marvin Candle / Mark Wickmund / Edgar Halliwax. . .



. . . has been revealed to have the real name of Pierre Chang.

Any major significance to this name? Personally, I think it's just a riff on the actor's real name.

His real name is Francois Chau.

Francois is a very French name. The only male French name more French is - ooh la la - Pierre!

Then the surname Chau - beginning with 'Cha' - is adapted into Chang.

Ergo: Pierre Chang.

And I think that's it. Nothing major. Nothing enlightening. Just a little bit of amusement. Unless, of course, you know better. . .?

I can't believe I was really going to tell you ,AC that you had this name misspelled, and that it was really Chang! But when I googled it, I actually came up two pages, with both spellings.....

Probably does not mean anything, although, it has been said they (Darlton)always have a reason for picking the names of their characters.

Chang would probably make more sense - being a more typical Chinese name than Cheng (in the vein of choosing archetypal names from specific countries).

Although I don't think Cheng is particularly uncommon either - but I think I'll change it. Lostpedia re-directs from Cheng to Chang, so I'll stick with their version until I hear otherwise.

Ha-Joon Chang - Korean, who is one of the world's foremost heterodox economists specialising in development economics

Or, if it's Cheng:
François Cheng - Chinese French academician, writer, poet and calligrapher.

Maybe Montand and Pierre Chang are the same person somehow?? He had used other fake names so why not Montand as well. Maybe he was living a life similar to Ben...multiple identities, traveling around time and space, etc. Of course there could be more than one French man who lost their arm and it could just be a coincidence...hmmm the wheels are turning.
