Solaris and Lost Empty Solaris and Lost

Solaris and Lost Solaris
Solaris is a movie staring Gorge Clooney, It`s set in the future and is a sci-fi movie but more then that it`s a love story. The two leading characters are both psychiatrists and have a dinner debate regarding science vs faith. In fact the whole movies theme seems to be sciene vs faith.
Most of the movie takes place on a space ship orbiting the planet Solaris which seems to be sentinent. Once you go to sleep you awake to the one you were dreaming of, so you can basically create anything/anyone you desire through your dreams but that person is created through your memories so they are different from the original.
So what about Lost, well we all know how much has influenced the writers/producers of the show and I simple sumit that they have seen this and may have included some of its mythology into there own. Why am I sure that they have seen Solaris? Well the scene stealing Jeremy Davies ( Daniel Faraday) plays almost the exact same character in the movie as on the show.
They must have cast him after seeing how brilliant he was in this movie.
My only problem with the movie is its vaige ending I`m hoping isin`t reproduced in Lost.

Vincent,
I have been thinking for awhile now about posting a theory that includes the very thing you are bringing up here. 'Dan Faraday' is almost a clone to the character, Jeremy Davies portrays in "Solaris".

I have been hesitant to post it though as it does have some rather far reaching ideas!!But you may just have given me the inspiration to go ahead with it. scratch

He also seemed pretty much in that character in "Saving Private Ryan".
Although the material on "Solaris" does seem like it could very well be mimicking "Lost"

Vincent,Thanks for saying that, but I may just wait now, until we get settled into our new home.

I forgot he was in Rescue Dawn, a little more crazy but you are right it probally is his thing. I still think casting and thus writers/producers saw Solaris but whos to say.

KSJ I don`t blame you for waiting. Moving always stresses me out.

(but Jeremy Davies is still awesome. He made the most of his part.)

I liked the movie alot actually. The ending could have been better but it got me thinking about living in the present not dwelling in the past and moving on with life.

Molly I would have thought you two love birds would have soaked up all the lovey doveyness of the movie.

I agree about Jeremy Davies, and also with the concensus from rottentomatoes.com
I liked the movie but found it to be slow moving, and I don't think it did well at the box-office.

"Consensus: Slow-moving, cerebral, and ambiguous, Solaris is not a movie for everyone, but it offers intriguing issues to ponder."

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0307479/quotes

This a quote from the movie - That line could easily be delivered by Dan Faraday as well.
Chris Kelvin: Can you tell me what's happening here?
Snow: I could tell you what's happening, but I don't know if it would really tell you what's happening.

Hmmmm. A character named Kelvin in Lost too.
